Most rig rundowns feel so forced but listening to Fortus chat about gear and stuff was a pleasure.

it's key for me that he still uses the 1996 sig amp - which for me was a killer marshall amp, I think my favourite, I'd snap one of these up again in a heartbeat if one came up.
Yes. That stood out for me too. I think it's a bit of a sleeper amp, dont see too many of them. A mate of mine had one when they came out. Superb amp.

When I saw them I thought Fortus was the best thing about them.

I was a fool to let one go, I'd buy one back in a heartbeat.

  • I think that because the 1996 amp had Slash's name attached to it, that probably put them off.

Let's think back to 1996 and what was going on with Slash.  It had been 3 years since The Spaghetti Incident?  which was just OK, but wasn't really Guns n Roses as most people knew it.

Slash was, at that point, doing his own thing in Slash's Snakepit and with Slash's Blues Ball, both bands weren't as successful as GnR so he was kind of fading into obscurity at this point in time.

Grunge was pretty big too, so people were probably into grittier sounds rather than a Marshall, let alone a Slash signature.

If Marshall had of brought that amp out this year it would have sold like crazy.

You know it’s not a particularly good piece of gear or simply a money making exercise when it’s used for an extremely short length of time

There was talk a while back that they were only on the stage for window dressing during the promotional period  and that he was using his 800’s and jubes out back in the racks

That said there’s a few in here that own and love them

I've got the pop vinyl! It totally rocks

Now I've typed it out sounds like my room is like a slash shrine and that's without adding the AFD 100 head and LP vermilion :D

Yeah the pop vinyl is cool, may have to get the Duff one too.
I'm getting Duff and Axl for Christmas!

  • Rodney was the best vocalist with snake-pit. Ain’t life grand is an outstanding album and his vocals were awesome

I own one and love it, it only does 2 sounds but it does them very well indeed. He used 2 in in his rack for many years, not just stage dressing.

The wear pattern on the top edge binding of Slashes guitars are different to the norm....they are a bit more 'forward' than most.  Never noticed that before.

Maybe it's to do with him wearing them so low and the angle of his arm?

He definitely does, possibly a Jimmy Page influence in the way he wears his guitar, plus it looks cool.
