This is the show piece of the collection, all the design are actual inlays. 

Now I assume nothing close to this comes out the custom shop? So any ideas or knowledge greatly appreciated!!

Before the comments regarding colour roll in, it has been resprayed professionally. Apparently was purchased and resprayed before the previous red one I posted was acquired.

(I did also pick up a  Vintage Ibanez bass and guitar from elsewhere, which I shall post another time)

You never know, worth checking with fender.  

 Even if it is a custom shop job, it looks more like an eBay special with that inlay... but I can almost imagine someone asking Fender for it back then

I’m sure many of us have considered the horrible reality of dying and our partners selling our guitars based on what we told them they cost ;-)

I hope that wasn’t the case here.

Some really nice stuff there and that inlaid ‘strat’ looks quite similar to one on eBay at the moment listed as a ‘Washburn Pro’ (which I’m sure it’s not, just the neck-plate, but I can’t be bothered telling the seller)

Found the one on eBay! Inlays are very similar design I do wonder if it could have been the same person that did both!
