For a variety of reasons I had to return to my old haunting ground in Oxford today. 

Sat in Pret, having a sarnie and a coffee, I hear the bloke behind me say to his wife:

"There's not much of a requirement for washing up in this establishment, is there? No wonder there is such a high level of unemployment amongst the working classes"

Fair point though. Since they’ve done away with horse drawn carriages thousands of shit shovelers were out of a job. Or do they now work in MacDonalds?

Not really a class problem, probably just a grumpy old husband and a captive long-suffering wife.  They ran out of decent conversation topics decades ago and they are now in the long tedious wait to see which of them dies first (and they probably don't care which).

I fail to see how calling out someone with a bizarre view of jobs that are "appropriate" for some people is having a chip on my shoulder tbh.
