Right, I've just given up waiting for MR forum to come back and signed up here   Good to see all the same people still posting - I was starting to miss MR, even though I didn't post that often.

I just happen to have taken a recent shot of my instrument collection (to use as a FB background if you wonder about the odd shape!) so thought I may as well stick it on here.

I'm a wind player as well, so please feel free to ignore (or enjoy!) the wind instruments, but there's a fair bit of guitar content...

On the left, top to bottom:

1980s Hondo HL5, very under-rated L5 replica IMO, a really nice thing.

Tanglewood TW133ASM parlour.

Another '80s Hondo, Martin 12-string copy, playable but nothing like the quality of the L5.

Next column:

Cort Action 4 bass.

Gibson Melody Maker Special (recently won in Hartnoll's draw - thanks guys!)

Hagstrom Select Ultra Swede

Banjolin of unknown origin, probably 1920s

And a ukulele, cheap Chinese thing I steamed apart and rebuilt and actually plays quite well now.

Its not a group shot... as they are dotted around the place... in no particular order:

1978 Shergold Masquerader - apart from the Schaller bridge and replacement pots, its all original. Massively under-rated guitars for studio work but the ergonomics make them a bit of a challenge on stage.

"Woody" - its a bitsa that I put together myself. The body came from John Manuel and is finished in Tru Oil. The neck came from Rod (Rockmonster) and I believe is ex-lite Ash Tele. The pickups are handwound Kent Armstrongs - not the far eastern rubbish, these date from the 80s when Kent was based in, er, Kent and made them to order. They are basically a slightly overwound 'PAF' sound... very nice. Its a great guitar.

(Mainly) 1976 Fender Precision - the pickguard and neck have been replaced and its been refinished (from the looks of things it was see through Damson originally... shame it got refinished). The original neck was 1) horrid and 2) warped so has been replaced with a modern Fender Jazz Bass neck. One day I'll get around to getting rid of the ghastly white scratch plate... one day!!

The Black Tele - it started off life as a 1972 Telecaster with a rosewood board. I imported it from the US and promptly broke the neck on a low lighting gantry. I also binned the original bridge pickup and the retro-fitted DiMarzio neck humbucker (and the original scratchplate). It now has an AllParts neck, Seymour Duncan pickups and the pickguard from a 1983 US Tele. They'll put this one in my coffin with me...

'Tokai-ish' strat - again a bitsa I put together. I had a CS Strat that had a two post trem.... and I put this together as an experiment to see if I got on better with trad 6 screw trems. I did and I liked this so much, I sold the CS strat!! This is a Tokai body with a Fernandes "The Function" neck, a Callaham bridge and some hand wound 69 spec pickups (can't remember the brand/maker tbh). Its pretty dog rough looking but everyone who has played it has loved it - and I have turned down some ridiculous offers for it. I haven't played a better Strat yet, hence why its still here!!

Ignoring that, there's my Les Paul Goldtop - lovely lightweight 50s fat neck Studio thing. This is one of the original ones with a proper rosewood fingerboard and is so much better than the bores will tell you these are. Yes they are chambered, but this sounds exactly what you want a 50s-style p90'd Les Paul to sound. 
The Black SG is a 2004 Special that I bought at a year old. I didn't want an SG, but it kinda found me in a shop... I tried it and within 2 mins of picking it up, I had paid for it. Its that good. The original pickups were great for "rawk" but I found them a bit 'meh' for cleaner stuff so swapped them out for the Classic '57s in there now. Another one that will go in the coffin.

Finally in this picture, my Les Paul Special. A couple of ex-MR forumites had this before me and will attest that this is a little tone monster. I gig it very regularly and the satin finish is beginning to look worn in a good way. I love it!!

The 'Mother Earth' strat - I bought this from Matt Deighton, the guitarist from (sadly defunct) Acid Jazz band Mother Earth. This was his main live guitar for a long time and there are pics of him playing this on the back cover of the "Stoned Woman" album. Sadly the original neck has suffered a lot of wear, and refretting it would be "challenging" due to the artwork. To make the guitar useable, I have fitted an AllParts 1970s rosewood boarded strat neck that I bought from Wez V (not pictured here) and its magnificent!

Gibson SG Classic - this was what I traded LongtallRonnie for with the Les Paul Studio. Lovely little guitar - its fitted with Irongear pickups right now that, if I'm honest, I'm not 100% sold on. Its a lot brighter than my LP Special (and the other SG) so I'm thinking about slotting in a set of Oil City pickups... but that might have to wait due to other expenses right now.

There's also a Tanglewood acoustic and a battered Squier Tele (tuned open G) in the spare room, there's a JTV59 behind my desk and a few other bits kicking around, plus a few others no doubt that I've forgotten!!

Some fairly poor pictures of my collection, and I'm new to photobucket so hope this come out ok. I need to get some wall hangers really, too much stuff in my music room now. These are...an Ibanez RG8, Ibanez UVMC, Ibanez Jem FP, ancient Washburn N2 I've had for 21 years since 6th form, Joe Despagni Jem, Ibanez Jem BSB, some ancient custom built thing (pink one), modded US Charvel, Vigier Surfreter, and a Washburn N6. There's a crappy old Epiphone bass in there somewhere for recording...amp is an Engl SE, there's a little Blackstar and an old Marshall from the 70's that needs repairing too. No effects, although I'm considering changing that soon
