Ohh man..  yet again. An almost right Gibson...

I really like the BFG model.. Not only cos the funky weird carving it has but one of the things that made them so cool (I think anyway) was the pickup combo of Burstbucker 3 and P90..  Man ohh man, I had a Gary Moore one and that thing was a total monster..  The most interesting thing was the middle position.. It sort of sounded like the pickups were fighting each other, but in a good way  :)

This was the one I had..  I only sold it because I couldn't get on with the huge neck... And if I knew then what I know now I would have actually kept it but shaved the neck down a bit (which I would NEVER have considered back then).

So, to the new ones...  I have waited for them to do another BFG for ages now and what do they go and do.. Ruin one of the best things about the old versions..  Let alone doing it in just one boring colour where as the old ones had blue, green, red, even a gold one.. But no... So so boring Gibson.... Booooo

I had one of the originals too.  In black.

The obvious answer is buy the twin P90 version and stick a BB3 in the bridge position.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

I heard gary play his live with a slide, it was a snarling beast of a tone. Could be a bit of a cult classic these, they do have a lot of raw appeal.

Yes you’re right. On a standard les Paul I never use the middle position but the BFG sounds great
