Your favourite Analogman pedal

I really like my Sunface, and I thought maybe I would get another one, but the Astro Tone Fuzz sounds awesome, and the Sunbender / Peppermint Fuzz sound like fun too. Anyone have any experience / recommendations?

I should imagine many people will say the King of Tone.

@Sassafras ;Even though they appear to be the most resold Analogman pedal?  It wouldn’t be for me - I don’t gig atm.

Yes, King of Tone is great. I don't think people necessarily get rid of them because they don't like them (though obviously some will) but usually because it's a lot of cash to tie-up in on OD pedal.

The BiClone Chorus is great, especially in stereo. Probably my favourite.

The BiComprossor is very versatile, especially in 4 jack config.

The Beano Boost and Bad Bob are great at what they do.

    I think, therefore.... I... ummmm........

  • I've been through most of them and here's the ones I wish I'd kept...

    Bi-Chorus
    Sunface BC108
    Beano Boost.

Been through 4 KOT's and the only reason I sold them wasn't because of money tied up, it was purely down to being able to make £200+ on what I paid for them and I didn't even get them direct! That said, for me Prince of tone is better and having 2 of them gives you all the KOT add on options and some that don't exist for basically less money than a KOT.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

    This is very useful. Thank you. I hadn't really considered some of these at all. @rossyamaha @Gadget ;

  • One of these has survived years and years of pedalboard reinventions, it's been pitted against many a "new king on the block", but has remained steadfastly attached to my board throughout:

Only had the Mini Bicomp, but it's a great pedal!

My head said brake, but my heart cried never.

  • I have the sunbender and peppermint fuzz. Love them both but the peppermint is my favourite fuzz ever. It can get so many tones with such simple controls its the most dynamic and savage pedal I have. Very sensitive to playing and volume control but also a bit anti social with other pedals, really likes to be 1st in line and is the only fuzz I've ever noticed variations in its response depending on the temperature of the room etc.

Oh and sounds like rubbish if the amp in use isn't already cooking a bit, but I suppose that's the case with most fuzz.

@billzabozo The Peppermint sounds mad - what sort of music do you play? Or is it quite flexible in what it can do?

I've got the KOT v2 and a mate has a Sun lion Mini Bi Comp and KOT V4 on his board. All great pedals.

  • Would you believe I mainly use it on an electric lapsteel guitar, fuzz on full and guitar volume almost off. Play soft and its a nice fuzz/od dig in and it sounds like your speaker cone has left its enclosure. It's very versatile using just the bias knob and your volume/touch.

It was the first fuzz pedal I ever got and hated it at first. Then got to play it through a cranked Princeton and that was it. Many fuzz pedals have come and gone but nothing has replaced the peppermint. I mainly play alternative blues beefheart/waits etc

Sunface NKT275 white dot standard gain for me. Has seen off all other fuzzfaces so far.

To second some of the above, KOT, bichorus and beano boost are all great.

he does some great pedals, but for me (and I don't know why as it seems on paper a standard mod) his TS9 is "the tube screamer sound" All his stuff is great though.

I forgot mods! I've got an Analogman-modded Small Stone phaser, which is great too.

I don't think it's too gushing to say that his stuff is the benchmark when it comes to premium tone. IMO anyway.
