What's Hot

Chap posted this on the Facebook Lazy J forum.  If it wasn't like a scene from The Revenant here I'd have to beetle down to WH Smith to read it.  Nothing about them on the website yet: anyone know what LC stands for?

I jest. I love my Lazy J20 and would love to hear this J10. I believe there's a J5 now as well. The website doesn't seem to keep pace, but who needs a website when you've got a 6-month waiting list?!

Large Cabinet - it's also available in the smaller 5F2 cabinet but if you're going to stump up the cash, the 5E3 cab is the one to go for.

To quote Morrissey, what difference does it make?

In a gigging/rehearsal situation, probably not much.

At home in your man cave? I'd guess it's all in the nuances ;)

I'd definitely be going for a Rift amp if I was going for a non master volume amp again rather than another Lazy J. One day Chris.... one day

Definitely overpriced... one of the best tweed deluxe remakes out there, in my opinion is the Magic amps 5E3.

Which can be had with the following features for a prices on £1560:

    NOS Allen Bradley resistors
hide glue constructed and covered cabinet
    premium leather handle
Signature tuned wiring (copy of a great 59)
NOS tubes in the preamp and rectifier
Amber lacquered tweed and light weight air dried pine (not kiln dried)
Choice of Celestion Alnico Blue, gold, cream, weber signature or jupiter 12" (the last two make the amp 100$ cheaper)

If you add shipping and customs, you'll still be under £2100.

Other options, that are also better in my opinion, are the Germino Tweed deluxe, Mission amps or the speed shop.

Nothing against Jesse's amps, it's a cool thing to be able to set the price of your product on the market, but there are other options out there. And better ones as well.

Just had a look at his website - there’s no mention of that on it - but the site IS reassuringly ‘vintage’ :)

If its the same cabinet as the J20, is the main difference the 6V6 ?

Cost is on par with the J20 too.

That doesn't have the VAC, Reverb, and Tremelo.  If you get a Lazy J without those then it's a similar price - possible slightly cheaper.  @interstellar said above that this new one is £1900 without all the extras.

If you get it from Jesse you will also get brilliant after sales support from someone here in the UK.

Which is fair enough, I overlooked those features. But for a product assembled in the UK, at a base price of £1900 for what is essentially a tweed deluxe topology with run of the mill parts, it's still wildly overpriced.

Again nothing against lazy J, and I don't doubt for a second the after sales support is excellent (as mentioned by a lot of happy customers). I just never felt moved to get one, as I find them a little ordinary, especially for the cost.
