I'd be pretty happy with a reverse headstock Soloist with a set of HSH Evos and a red & blue swirl paintjob.

    No idea.

I want a guitar to do too many things. One isn't enough.

Having owned a couple I would be a very happy man with an alder Washburn N4 Vintage but with a hardtail, maple board and more importantly, a much fatter neck.

I’ve thought about this. There’s been a couple of threads around this sort thing, recently, which has put it into my head, and I’ve come to the conclusion that its just not something that I’m that arsed about..
Sure enough, there’s some lovely stuff out there, that could be had, but.. nah...
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    It’s a good point.

there is a real danger in trying to make a guitar that tries to do everything, but that can be what many want when they go down this route.

the answer is, and I admit I may be biased, multiple custom builds.  ;)

I thought long and hard about this and realised there just isn't anything complicated enough about electric guitars to warrant designing one from scratch - I only need a couple of simple tweaks to an off the shelf guitar.

I suppose I could get someone to make exactly what I want from scratch but it would end up looking like every other 'boutique' guitar with a weird logo and a slightly wrong headstock, ie, like a £200 Samick.
Absolutely spot on. My main guitar is entirely stock and I wouldn’t change anything about it.

I have a guitar set up for slide which has a few mods - but never feel the need for anything more specialist.

Solid body version of the Manzer Pikasso.

But with a built-in accordion, kazoo, and trombone.

    Yup.

I mean... what do you do if you want a guitar that feels like a Strat but also a Les Paul, or has a humbucker at the bridge but also a Tele pickup at the bridge? And is hardtail and trem at the same time?

I'd order a bound Tele style guitar in red or blue. And a Candy apple red Strat style with vintage tinted maple neck and fretboard from the Suhr custom shop.

I'd probably order a blue Aura too as the only custom shop I've ever really wanted was a blue Gibson, now I have one (not custom), I'd want a Les Paul style from Suhr.

Right now I'm seriously considering putting an order in with Mayones for a 6 string Regius with satin charcoal flame top and the sandwich wood neck thing with two BKP Blackhawks.

Like someone said above, one guitar won't do everything, so may as well do a few!

Based on a recent ebay punt, I dontd think I'd hesitate to order from Kiesel either.

What Bucket said but next for me is likely to be set neck Strattish something. 25" scale, 12" radius. A narrow trem maybe another hipshot. Evo gold or s/s frets. Angled head, no trees. Woods TBA depending whats around. I'd love to use some koa just for the sake of it but the prices I've seen are scary. Not "the one" but something I want feature wise.

2 low-wind humbuckers on a Tele style with no pick guard (but with the Tele control plate), Strat style hardtail bridge, in satin gold top (light natural back and sides), chambered mahogany body.
Chunky-ish roasted maple Tele neck with 12” inch radius, medium jumbo nickel frets and locking tuners.

No, haven’t thought about it at all!

What a I would like to see is a switchable volume ...as in on any setting on the guitar I can have a volume for chords then a boost determined by me via  volume pot but using a switch to switch on and off

I know this is the same as using a volume control but I like things pre set and simple ..also would make sure it had the treble bleed pots on

I would also have the humbucker on the neck coil split ..

    Easy.

Inflatable Variax with a JM bridge system.

    Something Tele'ish

Would want a decent control layout though.  I quite like what Steve Cropper has:

Forget the back switch, but the pickup selector, volume and tone are in a sensible place.  That's my biggest gripe with most Teles.  Fender will sell you one with a modern radius, or with humbuckers, but they don't do one with a sensible control layout.

Wouldn't want that bling though.  Solid colour like LPB and traditional single coil Tele pickups.  Bridge pickup in a traditional 3 saddle bridge.

Would also want the Danny Gatton style cutout on the bridge:

Soft V for the neck.  Probably 7.25" radius but might go for 9.5".  Bigger than vintage frets but not huge.

What I'm not sure of at the moment is what woods I'd use.  Not sure whether to go rosewood or maple board, and not sure about ash or alder for the body.

I've already got the Tele I want which @SteveRobinson put together for me. It's blond with a black scratchplate and has tappable P90s in it. It's got a chunky neck with a V down at the low end and 6100 frets. Instead of the traditional Tele switch on the control plate it's the right sort in the right place which is a LP toggle on the upper part of the body. It is set up for 11s and has a half-Tele Wlkinson bridge with compensated saddles.

Anything else would be pretty similar to my PRS DGT which sounds and feels great. I'd find some way of adding a middle pickup so I could get the classic Strat in-between sounds. I would probably also lose the vibrato arm as I hardly ever use it.

Nothing fancy for me. Just a toploader Tele with a maple fingerboard and probably finished in a ‘surf’ colour. Essentially an Affinity Tele made from higher quality components.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it
