Les Pauls: Pickguards?

Following a comment in my NGD thread, I am interested to know whether people tend to leave the pick guard on or off on their Les Pauls? 

I personally like the look of a LP without pick guard (except on gold tops, strangely).

i removed the pickguard from my LP studio when i realised it wasnt exactly guarding anything from the pick, as i noticed the front of the guitar getting scuffed immediately above the guard. not an unpleasant look actually. I think it looks better without. I also removed it from my epiphone 339 too

Also remember that every Les Paul ever made is lighter without it, and every little helps...

But I like heavy. Heavy is good.  Heavy is reliable.  If it doesn't work, you can always hit them with it...

I keep breaking them, and have a large chunk of paint missing from gigging without them. 

I like them personally, I don't want to look like an 80s rocker.

No pickguard on a Gibson Les Paul that has binding is that person who wears a full suit with a buttoned up collar and no tie

my 2014 LP Standard came stock without one and without holes for one and I really want one. No idea what pickguard to buy that will 100% fit.

Possibly. They do have a habit of breaking - as well as rattling, creaking, clicking when you hit them with a pick, getting in the way, looking ugly and increasing the weight...
