    Daphne blue!
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

I feel sorry for the guitarists in the 50's & 60's who were forced to buy their guitars from the store with brand new paint jobs.
    lol

I imagine if someone did offer a relic at the time, guitarists would just assume it was an old ruined one and expect a massive discount if they'd take it at all.

The first time I saw a reliced guitar I assumed it must be an old beat up one and thought "that must sound amazing for him to keep that guitar despite it looking so bad" lol

I would go for Lake Placid Blue.

But whatever colour you choose, my suggestion would be to not "slightly" age it, if that consists of deliberately chipping the edges in a really fake-looking, ugly way.

That would be really nice if it was just the checking - which is what I would call "slightly aged" - but as it is it just looks a mess and like it needs refinishing again.
As would I, but having some chips, undercoat showing though is not 'fake', my '65 Tele has genuine chips and wear and that is far from fake looking.

'Fake' ageing to me is the belt sander arm wear that Fender CS/MJT et al seem hell bent on insisting is normal for a vintage guitar.

The guitar in the picture is a 1965 original finish guitar (up for $25,000 no less!), that’s genuine wear.
Fake is when you fake something, no matter how unfake it looks.
A Deuce , a Tele and a cup of tea.

That’s true but no ones taking about or intending to fake anything here so it’s all good :)

When young girls put all that fake tan and makeup on, that's obviously fake ageing

Very nice Neil, did you spray it yourself?
Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman, in which case always be Batman.
My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

@richardhomer @thebreeze Many thanks chaps, most kind!

@BigMonka Thanks! Yes I did. It turned into a full 'restoration' actually as the original body had been re-finished in a 'dirty' thick blonde poly and badly home reliced. A couple of the edges had been compromised because they had obviously gone at it with sandpaper to get through the poly so I had to build a couple of them up again (only very slightly) to get that classic 60's shape back. Very please with how it's turned out though.

    wonderful!
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
