Gold, mainly because the tort is such a nasty cheap-looking one. If it was a proper deep semi-transparent vintage-type one it would be a much closer call.

Anodised gold is pretending to be late Fifties.

Red tort is pretending to be early Sixties but is too red and has the incorrect edge bevel angle.

Just out of interest, where have you seen this? All the 60s vintage JMs I’ve (in pictures admittedly) have a reddish tort.

I was always puzzled by Fender choosing brown for the AV65s, that’s the only place I’ve ever seen it personally.
