As do I, and I'm gluten-free as well. People knock the whole GF thing but I know what it does to me. It's like people who go dairy-free, you get some people scoffing but real life proves it. My partner cut back on  dairy for three months after awful stomach problems at my suggestion and restricted herself to almond milk, a dash of cream in coffee, and very small amounts of cheese. No stomach troubles over those three months. After that time period, one afternoon work break coffee with full fat milk had her in all sorts of gurgly strife.

Now that is the case. Certainly when I started cheffing properly in 2003, there was a lot of scoffing at those who were gluten intolerant. That happily has changed.

Man I know the pain! 

I was in unbelievable pain + all the other literally ‘shit’ symptoms lol,  for about 3 years until it got so bad I presumed I was naturally coming to the end of my life! Not even kidding you. 

It took a referral to Guys n St thomas and several ass kicking complains to finally get a diagnosis! Turns out my liver was shot, my spine had thinned and my guts still riddled with bacteria which nothing yet has shifted! 

But yeah, thank God the awareness is out there now. 

Part of me liked the idiots and celebs that touted as Gf lifestyle as they created demand in a pretty bleak market, but yeah, unless you’re intolerant or coeliac, I was told theres very little to gain from it when there are proper exclusion diets much more effective!

The PC it happens to be is none other than the sister of Anthony Walker (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Anthony_Walker). Sentenced to a curfew order for 8 weeks and £585 in fines.

I think that is a good question. I would argue that people should be free to make offensive jokes ala bernard manning etc. People will be free to criticise them for it, and employers (say BBC) would be free to not employ them but that it shouldn't be a matter for the courts, unless they are actually inciting racial or other hatred. 

I would argue that people should be free to say just about anything they like.

As mentioned previously in this thread, offence is taken not given. Offence is entirely subjective. What offends one person, delights another. So how are we to know what not to say/do as to avoid offending someone? And now that our courts have decided context doesn't matter just about anything could be classified as offensive.

Words and ideas shouldn't be censored no matter how distasteful you find them.

And actions? 

This is one case. The courts haven't decided as to how boundaries are drawn as another court/jury might reach a very different verdict on the same case. The Liverpool case is the same. As there is nothing definitively written into the law regarding use of 'nigga' within electronic communications, you end up with courts offering differing conclusions. So really it's not a case of freedom of speech being curtailed but technology being way ahead of the law, something we've all seen on this forum with regard to fraud and theft.
