So as part of my re-introduction into society i get to choose a course to prepare me for civilian life. This course is booked soon and i decided I will do a crimson guitar course.
Now the question is.... what should I build? I have built parts casters in the past but i really fancy a different shape such as a Explorer, Flying vee or some such. Anyone got any suggestions?
The world is pretty much my oyster so... offbeat ideas are welcome.

It's not massively offbeat but when I was looking for my Les Paul, I saw one of these in Manchester's short-lived branch of Music Ground. I passed it by but have never seen another. It's a Les Paul Doublecut - unlike a normal DC it has a carved top and I was very very taken:

Ha, Surprising choice of course......don't you think guitar building is a bit of a minefield ????
Guess not more so than FX pedals haha
Sorry, couldn't resist........I love the sound of a flying V with a top carve quilted burst top armed with two HBs of your choice & a solid rosewood neck (whilst you still can)
Whatever you choose good luck with your endeavours and hope your return to normal society goes smoothly and not too 'regimented'
You do realise most folk on here that are not familiar with you are gonna think you just getting out of jail ?
My personal choice would be like a dc junior
(formerly customkits)
Its also a good choice as a lot of it is the same processes as a fender.... gotta think about the transferable skills
The question, in all seriousness, should be what 3 guitars should i build. With 3 guitars you can cover off a hell of a lot of construction styles. See the @melvynhiscock book for a good example of this.

Should have bought one of those (that colour too) at the Guitar Show a couple of years ago.
That's what I'd build .
Whatever you build, you're going to have a fun time
