Just Seen an unusual collection for sale

What's Hot
Just seen this on face book and I must admit it looks interesting but maybe overpriced? They are from 1977 and he wants 6k for the set?

I hate that colour, and I doubt it's worth 6K unless it's a rare colour? Antigua burst I think it is.

It IS a rare colour - I reckon someone would pay that for all three.

I always thought Antigua burst was a pretty cool finish.

It’s a rare colour because nobody but Stevie Wonder would buy one.

The guitarist from Henry Rollins band uses one - I think they were called Mother Superior

Not my choice of colour either but a prile of them in ace nic means the price isn't that daft.

I don't like the grey bits round the edges, it looks like someone's coloured it in with a graphite pencil and half rubbed it out.

    6k seems reasonable to me

I wouldn't want to own them personally but they seem priced quite sensibly
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Not my bag aesthetically but a decent trio for someone who likes such things, and a fair price imho

Cheers Dave, too rich for my pocket, I had a Precision Bass in Antigua Burst, as much as every one hates it, it’s still my favourite colour ever...

The story used to be that the Antigua finish originated on Coronados in the late '60s as a cover-up for scorch marks caused by a binding process gone wrong.

Always rather liked the Teles in a so-vile-it's-great kind of way, 'cos Clive Gregson used to use one in Any Trouble.

    That was the official name.

Brand new, the edge colour would have been a beige-ish grey. Almost Mushroom. That might be a clue as to what influenced the choice of colour scheme. ;)

Goof hiding by CBS/Fender makes perfect sense.

The scheme was used on 50's  -60's kitchen furniture.

Had a Japanese Fender Antigua.  Very nice guitar. Pickups were a bit ‘meh’.

My my friend has an original 70’s Antigua strat.  Lovely thing. I like the finish, it’s unusual.

At least if they're together they're only ruining 1 person's guitar collection and not 3...
