The two anchor bolts for the Rockin Pro were a very, very sloppy fit for the slots in the bridge. Very poor potential for transmitting string energy. At least a 1mm gap between the top of the bridge and the underside of the bolt head.
So I found a spring in my spares department, snipped two coils out to use as spacers for lack of spring washers, and reassembled the whole thing. The fit was a lot more snug and after setting the trem and tuning I was getting much more sustain after the initial pick attack. I'll need to check the other one at some point but if it's a consistent thing, it'll be a disappointing drop in Yamahas standards of engineering.
