I'd really appreciate a try on one of these if any of you guys are near Dorking Surrey and OK with that.

It sounds like you just pick quite far forwards, is it uncomfortable to pick further back? I’ve seen people with longer arms pick around there. If you can pick further back it’s not a bad thing in my opinion. The higher tension on the string further back gives a better general tone and the stiffness aids in more controlled picking.
I realise it’s hard to break old habits though!
Yeah I can adjust when I think about it but revert back to that location.

Does everybody’s control cavity have an R8 stamp? Can’t see one in mine, checklist also says LP Std. VOS, not R8.

I've not checked about the stamp.

LP Standard is what they were called in 2017, not R8.  That's what's on the certificate too.

I think you can fairly safely take a punt - everyone seems to be very happy with the guitars they've got.

Unfortunately I'm in Manchester otherwise you'd have been welcome to try mine out.

Mine is stamped R8 in the cavity and says LPR8 on the warranty card, but just LP Standard on the CoA. Mines February 2017.

I thought all 2017 certificates had STD but I remember seeing in the depths of this thread that the checklists had LPR8 written not STD.

Just want to make sure it’s the real deal while I can still send it back. Would hate that to be the case as it’s a cracking guitar.

I have one from earlier in the run - for which I paid considerably more than £2,500 - and it doesn't say R8 in the cavity.

Mine does say R8 in the control cavity. Cert says LP Standard, Checklist says LPR8 HR VOS

Just checked.  Mine's a November 2017 guitar, checklist and COA all say LP Standard only.  No mention of '58 or R8.
