They *all* look horrible. Mostly the headstocks, but the Vigier looks like the body was drawn by a grumpy child with a crayon.

  • I often wonder with these sorts of guitars - who are they FOR? Coz I don’t think it’s rock stars or touring pros. Session players? Is session playing lucrative enough for anything like this? (Genuinely interested, not trolling in the slightest).

People who just want a really nice instrument? Such a small percentage of guitarists are professionals, but such a large percentage want the best guitar they can possibly find, and maybe one of those in the OP fits the bill perfectly for someone.

Uggh to that PRS. The headstock doesn't suit that guitar at all.

I have to admit that I have boycotted MR since they pulled the plug on the old forum.
I rarely go on the site either tbh, I was searching for something guitar related yesterday & this popped up.

    Why hy did the forum close in the end? I honestly can’t remember. @axisus ;

Suhrs, Tom Andersons, Tylers, CS, Xotic, Patrick Eggles and many lesser known brands are missing here.
The Xotic is on the list at the bottom.
Sorry. A bit of over-zealous typing

I'll replace the Xotic with Melancon, Grosh, EBMM
    EBMM is there too.

  • I had a look at that article and then the other 2 "Best Strat Under..." articles on there. Of all the options on there, the one that appeals to me most is the American Original Fender, followed by the 50s Classic Fender, then the Squire Classic Vibe. The John Page one was a distant fourth place to my tastes.

Moral of the story - if I wanted a Strat I'd just buy a Strat.

Each to their own though.  :)

They decided that they couldn't be bothered with a forum any more, but instead of manning-up and telling us to abandon ship, the annoying fekkers just pulled the plug. They were too cowardly to admit that they had done this so they pretended for some time that it would come back. I lost a LOT of info that I would have gathered had they just given a bit of notice. Annoying bunch of *****.

I disagree.  I have a couple of Suhrs and a Tom Anderson.  I also have Gibsons and bandmates' reactions to my Strats are mainly surprise that I don't own a real Fender.  I'd get a more kudos playing a £1,200 Fender than obscure makes people tend to assume are inferior copies.  I just don't think it would be as good a guitar.

That was my immediate thought.  The omissions on the list seem "pointed".

This is a good companion to yesterday's headstocks thread.  They all look wrong.

(Except the Music Man, but I don't like the scratchplate on that.)

    Really?

I’ve not read Guitarist for a long time - but I doubt LSL and Xotic are throwing much into their advertising coffers.

I actually quite like the PRS headstock.  The Xotic slightly reminds me of Yamaha.

So would I, but only if it was on a different guitar.

    A left-handed PRS.
