    Anyone know?

I'm guessing Flint and Ojai are from the City names in Michigan and California respectively, and I read something in the bumpf for the Dig about 'unearthing' old delays, so I guess that's the inspiration.

A Capistan is the thing that holds the tape reel I believe.

Brigadier, Mobius, Lex, Ola, Riverside, Deco, Orbit, all these must have a reference?
Surely DIG is just because it's digital!?

you'd change your tune immediately if Gilmour started using one!

They also do a few pedals that would fit in your Black and Grey pedal colour scheme

Riverside is a city in California in the greater LA region, not sure if the pedal is named after it though...
Also a red light district in Cardiff. Does it have a red LED indicator?

I always thought Zuma was named after the Neil Young album.

Hold on, Riverside.... is someone from Strymon a Middlesbrough FC fan?
    No. He can't be.

    Because no one is.

I had considered it as I like Strymon pedals, however I'm Helix only now so won't be getting one. If it's cold as the Riverside I don't want it either!

  • There are famous Riverside Drives in LA and Manhattan and the Riverside is a drive pedal, duh.

I'm confused about why they're called Strymon, though - it's the ancient name of a river, now called the Struma, where (according to Herodotus) Xerxes buried nine boys and nine maidens alive as a sacrifice during his invasion of Greece.

  • @Dominic I read it for the first time last year and didn't want to reach the end, it was so cracking a read.

However his references to the Strymon gave me a disturbing feeling that I was experiencing two incompatible forms of nerdiness at the same time.

May just be because I'm reading about it at the moment but doesn't it date back further than that to Greek mythology where Strymon was the son of Oceanus and Tethys?

I am possibly completely wrong, there's a lot of names to remember, and it may just be a coincidence ...

  • @Dominic I got about halfway through that once - got bogged down somewhere in the middle ages - but for me it's all about Tacitus now. Sine ira et studio, baby! But I might be blowing my cover as a dork here.
