I have a conversion (1952->burst), that was done in the 60's or 70's.  It is a lovely guitar and plays really nicely.  The workmanship on it is incredible and I really love it, but I don't really take it out to play.  The same with my 54 Goldtop.   I record with them, but for playing out, I use a Feline Anniversary Lion (#7 to be precise).  It is probably one of the best playing guitars I own (and I have a lot of guitars), as well as sounding and looking great.  It also has the advantage that if something happened to it, I can get Jon to make me another (though I would prefer nothing happens to it).  I was able to specify the thing I wanted and it is a combination of features I like.

The old Les Pauls certainly have mojo and I love the sound of them, but you spend all night worrying about something happening to them and it isn't the fun that the Feline gives.
