ps. We all know rosewood fretboards are warmer sounding than maple...
Rosewood boards produce a darker tone than maple boards. I mean, look at them for crying out loud! They're obviously darker.

Even more profound, what is it actually like to be a dog listening to the sound of a guitar solo when it doesn't even have any of the contextual information we have, such as who Jimmy page is and the difference between shred and Pentatonic noodling?

I reckon animals prefer simpler mathematical relationships between notes, so the even-tempered scale is even more abhorrent to them than it is to us.

A Silver Mercedes F1 car is faster than a Red Ferrari F1 car, therefore silver paint is faster. Can't argue with the logic.  s

Dogs are colour blind so I'm guessing it's the same to both blind man and dog.
    Dogs are not colour blind:

Hey, if he thinks it sounds better then good for him.

He's obviously more of an "artist" than a "scientist", but I guess that's what makes him such a great musician.

    No.

Everyone knows red goes faster. Its a simple fact of life. Just because this a little car went faster in silver does not mean that it's faster. Geddit?

Surely a red guitar sounds different simply because it is moving away from the observer, whereas a bluer guitar is moving towards him. Simple physics innit?
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Discovered as a teenager that I'd no way of telling the skin colour of an artist from recordings.

The world could do with a whole lot more colour-deafness..

    Gateway paint :)

A little bit of recreational primer in the evening is a slippery slope to painting.. i've heard the habit can even lead to glossing :/

If it was that simple why doesn't Billy wear facepaint so his singing doesn't sound like someone being crucified while forced to listen to the Smashing Pumpkins?

For @Bridgehouse 's benefit, is this really about the effect of tone upon timbre?

My white blonde Tele definately sounds different to my wine red LP, so I think the Pumkins man might be onto something here.
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

I think if you're watching someone else play then the colour of their instrument may alter your perception of their tone, which is effectively changing the tone.
