    Build a REAL hurdy gurdy.

Interesting. How are you doing that, do you have plans?

The Nerdy Gurdy - Dutch “open source” instrument - designed to be laser cut and 3D printed - you can also buy a kit with that done. If the key box is good I’ll probably try to develop a more unique instrument around that as a starting point.

I've always wanted one, too, but of course I want a funky Van Halen style one like Gregory Jolivet

Sadly the UGears kit is more my price range (https://ugears.online/products/hurdy-gurdy-build-your-own-fully-fledged-musical-instrument-by-ugears).  Maybe one day - at least it's not another guitar. =)

Anyway, since I've finally got power and light to my garage, built a workbench and bought a band saw it would be a shame not to make something this year.  I have a couple of things in mind.  We'll see how much time I manage to make for it.

Well for me this is an important year.

Havent been able to work now since about last March due to looking after my parents and then my father passing in October.. Last January I was doing quite well and happy with what was going on..  Now I need to start again almost in terms of getting myself out there (doing shows and stuff). This is why ive not been posting in this section for a while, it was too frustrating for me.

The first thing I need to do when I do get back to it (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) is to finish this African Walnut body guitar that's been sitting in this state for over a year now..  Needs final shaping and sanding then finishing but is almost done.

Then while I am finishing that I am going to start a build that will mean a lot to me. Some of you may have seen from a post I made in the Tribute thread that a very good friend of mine passed away on December 30th (yup its been an awful time).  He was a musician and I had planned to make a guitar for him and now will be making it in his honour. As he did loads of open mic nights the idea is that its going to be semi hollow and have a piezo TOM bridge so he could use it live for those nights and to record with at home. Its sad he will never get to see or play it now    But I may decide to auction it for a charity he supported or something.

And will look something like this
