NGD: PRS McCarty

First new guitar of a year I was supposed to be cutting down 

Not that I’m complaining. For no reason at all I’ve been GAS’ing hard for a PRS. It was between a Custom 22, McCarty or DGT. Fancied the McCarty that was for sale on here but missed out by minutes, so I kept looking. 

This come up last night, only an hour away from me so went and picked it up today. I’m in love. I’m predominantly a Gibson and Fender man, but lately I’ve been after something different. I’ve found it in this. 

I’m not keen on alot of PRS colours and tops, but the more I looked at this black I thought it looked classy with the contrast in the binding. I do like the P90 sound, so it’s been an extra bit of justification that it has the P90’s as I’m without a guitar with them at the moment. 

It plays effortlessly. Well set up, and every sound in every position sounds phenomenal. I’m just gutted I waited so long. First PRS but doubt it will be my last. (I might already be looking at humbucker equipped Custom 22’s  )

Scraped binding on solid finishes generally looks hawt - no exceptions made here. Congrats!

Lovely guitars. I’m genuinely thinking of trading my Les Paul for another PRS.

Very nice - reminds me of my old Custom 22 Soapbar, which was basically the same as that but with three P90s - and a trem... and a lever switch... and a maple neck... so not really the same, but you know what I mean .

That's the one I miss most of the ones I had, now - ironically it's the one I swapped for my Rickenbacker.

Thanks guys. It has a wide/fat neck which is very comfortable in the hand.

Nice!  I've got a black McCarty, with humbuckers.  I don't think they look very dentisty, but maybe I should ask a dentist.

I kind of regret selling my McCarty goldtop soapy. 
Black is (I think) marginally cooler!

I've sold a couple of those in the past and have a soft spot for them - slightly different neck profile on that model as well - Normally would be a wide/fat that model has a Custom D profile so a touch more depth - Like the 5 way switch option on it as well
