To be honest, what I liked best was.using the two channels on my AOR30. 

I'm a bassist now and use either a Mk1 Guv'nor or my Locobox Distortion for a few lines of These Boots Are Made For Walking, Shut Up and Dance, All About the Bass and Don't Stop Believing.

Klon Centaur. In my case, silver no horsey. Easily the best sounding pedal that I have used. Having said that, I no longer own it because it was worth a stupid amount and in practical terms, in a gig situation, there are Klones that will do the job. Currently MXR Sugar Drive - very very close!
