Good short scale beginner bass?

Picked up the bronco bass online recently. It´s in need of a tweak, as the spacing between the A and D strings looks off from the bridge to over the pickup, so the saddles need some tweaking as well as the action.
Lovely sound off it though. I´ll only really be using it for home use. 
There are some suggested pickups mods, so might look at that down the line.
