    I've had a mild example of courier incompetence today.  We ordered two identical mattresses in one order.  They turn up at different times on different vans about 3 hours apart!  I know it's nothing compared to seeing what happened to the Gretsch but none of them seem to be any good.

    It's a combination of lowest-possible-price customer demand (bearing in mind most of the actual customers are online retailers who offer 'free delivery'), and the couriers not having any proper legal liability for loss or damage. The 'insurance' is a joke in many cases, and is a costed option anyway.
