Excellent vid. Dan is clearly already in love and you can see a couple of moments where it clicks and he "gets" the JM thing, especially when he uses the trem.

(Though I heartily disagree with the need for 500k pots...)

Nice video. I'll be getting my Olympic White AVRI 65 JM out today. Boing.....!

And no to losing the brightness of the JM. That's its USP.

But the A/B test was with all controls dimed, so what difference do the pots make?

Change pots to 500k? No way!!!

It's part of the character. Run the pot at 8/10 like intended and change the rhythm section?

Just buy a Stratocaaster why don't you ararraggyhh

and they played 'Walk don't Run'. Good God why do people play all that stuff on a Jazz.
I already commented on 1M thing on the vid, and got a quick reply that they definitely want 500s. Missing the point, a little, I’d say.

They do actually touch on it in the vid- the reason so many pedal nerds like offsets is because all that treble lets you keep clarity even when you have a lot going on sonically. Obviously it’s less required for blues noodling.

Hmmm, for once it looked to me like Dan didn't have a clue how to use it... and his initial delight seemed to wear off as the video progressed....

    Not their greatest moment, imho.

Probably best they leave their style of playing off the JM...

I thought he had 250k pots in his black jazzmaster?

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I thought it was 500s... either way, not 1megs.

That said, personally I prefer I megs but with A3 magnet pickups to soften the ‘click’ from the pick attack.

But each to their own, eh?

Having got that very guitar I can agree that it is indeed very, very good.

To be honest I don't know anything about the pot values, but I do know it sounds very different from anything else I have and that is the whole idea,
