Low price les Paul's and SG's

What's Hot
On the classifieds I have a post looking for a low price back up for gigging

After a humbuckers equipped guitar, les Paul or Sg style.

So that got me wondering what makes would you consider looking at.

Are the Thomann ones any good? Should I look for something like a JHS or Hagstrom.

What other makes are there ,  I've looked on ebay just not sure if there are brands I am not seeing you would suggest

Yup, Gordon Smith would be a great choice for a low cost gigging guitar. Especially with the £ exchange rate down...

As above, PRS or Gordon Smith. Failing that s/h Gibson LP studios and SG specials can often be found around the £400 mark if you don’t mind picking one up that’s a bit worn. May be a higher price point than you want but could be worth stretching to.

PRS SE Tremonti always seem cheap second hand. Well worth the money.

  • There is a couple of nice Fret King guitars in the second hand section at Sound Affects Premier, one is an SG style the other a LP style guitar. Very well made guitars with nice hardware.

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Keep an eye out for a second hand Gibson LP Studio Faded or Tribute - I picked up a LP Faded Studio T recently for less than £350 and it’s amazing

I have a Korean Tokai 'LoveRock' (LP) for backup, but it's that good has been a 'main' guitar for various phases. Can still pick them up for not too much. The Japanese ones are probably better, but they go for more. Not tried a Chinese one but would think worth trying a cheaper model and upgrade the pickup if you like it.
