Gas station guitars

What's Hot

Hello I don't think I'm the only one asking but has anyone had any dealings with Gas Station Guitars based in Taunton? The general consensus on facebook groups I'm in is that his guitars are overpriced. I'm interested in a greco les paul mint collection that he has but is selling it for £745 on ebay and £895 on his official website.

Might be out of date information but I remembered we'd had previous Discussions about them, looks like the most recent was a while ago but might be something useful in there. I don't know anything about them, I guess the name is memorable.

I’ve found him to be a helpful guy to talk to but I’ve walked away from purchasing several guitars now as his pricing is ridiculous to the point I don’t even look anymore

Great looking selection, beautiful photography, ‘ambitious’ pricing imho.

I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

I think we are all agreed on his pricing, but punters must be parting with their hard-earned cash otherwise he wouldn't still be trading..

Money and sense comes to mind  :#

I got him down to 700 on a white greco lp in great condition to be honest. Still thinking about what to do though.

Wonder if I was the only one that saw the thread title & thought, wilted forecourt flowers, emergency gift chocolates & ...guitars?

Yes, I’ve had dealings with him, Keith Anderson is his name.  Have normally communicated with him via messenger of Facebook.  He’s very good to deal with, once took a return with no questions asked and even covered return postage.  His advertised prices are often negotiable and he has some lovely guitars.

Thanks John. I was really keen on the guitar but a few guys in a Greco Facebook group say I can do better for 700.

You can always ‘do better’. Just had a look at that one and it looks in excellent customer concition, if it’s a minter you’re after you will very likely be waiting a long time,   Is it really worth the effort to possibly save £100?

  • Had a look at some of the stuff on the site & it doesn't seem cheap, but consider how much you'd pay for some of these to buy & import from Japan. Some sellers in Japan do offer free returns & free shipping, but you need to search a long time for the right deal on the right guitar. (I've had good experience with sellers in Japan BTW, so not knocking them). I also understand you can get better prices in private sales, but I agree with @John_A above.
Also, it's a business, I assume they have fairly large import costs & likely have to write off a few duds. I dunno, I think it's nice to see someone specialising in this stuff & the site says they might open an actual shop, which would be good.

Probably someone with fat thumbs, it happens on iPhone a lot -don’t take it personally, just view it as a free fret.

  • @Teyeplayer ; Genuinely appreciate you taking the time to point that out. I was aware of this & not really a problem. Just don't want to take any chances.   ;)   Cheers

do bear in mind that tokai made (post 1990) Greco Mint collection guitars usually sell for less than the fujigen made earlier Greco Mint collections.

So yes that price is a little bit stretched for that particular model. No so long ago there was a user here in the forum selling a greco 1982 Greco EGC68-60, now that was a cool custom. In fact I almost bought that one, but came across another greco which I couldn't let slide.

Totally agree, but if a white Greco custom in top condition is what the OP is after, then I think you’d be scouring eBay for months/years to find one in the same condition for much less
