Yes, it's a total wanker's trick, although in no way surprising.

If you don't want to do it, just send it back. Or say "No, and you'll need to arrange collection".

Going to all the effort of deliberately shagging it up is totally needless twattery.

I get that Colleen was a bit dumb (and cheeky, and arguably rude) sending it in the first place, but a decent human being either takes 30 seconds out of their life to pick up a marker pen and sign it, or declines. They don't go out of their way to trash it because "giggles".

I appreciate I'm supposed to find it hilariously because, you know, football, tribes, bantz, Noel's such a geezer etc. and maybe it makes me a bit precious, but for my money it just reinforces the view that the Rooney's aren't too bright, and Gallagher's an arrogant git (substitute stronger words to taste).

Somewhat against my will, I find myself taking a shine to Noel.

In most interviews he comes across as surprisingly quite erudite and he can be very amusing.

The guitar stuff was just a bit of fun between multi millionaires.

Brilliant, glad so see he backed up what he believed in. Shows how detached from reality footballers are, and the Rooney’s seem particularly so.

They "dipped it in sky blue emulsion" but then, apparently, took the trouble to neatly scrape the paint off the binding...

It all sounds very juvenile and mean-spirited but the way Noel tells the story is quite funny and Rooney doesn't seem too upset with his guitar.

Noel has probably increased the value of the guitar as it is very unique and has a story to tell.
