I played an Explorer today and was struck by how comfy it was to play seated.  it fell in the perfect playing spot halfway between my LP and SG actually. Balanced on right leg, neck is in perfect place without the issues of the other two - SG a bit too far to the left, LP a bit too far right (neck position) when the body is placed comfortably.
Its on my wishlist now, despite being an unlikely candidate for a 'sitting down' guitar.

I got a couple of plastic clips and lined them with tungsten putty and clipped them to the headstock and that counter balance the guitar to stop that feeling of it wanting to fall to the right.

Ergonomic disaster for me, feels too closed in. As someone else on here put it recently, a Strat feels like playing guitar, a Les Paul feels like trying to have a wank.

As we guitarists get older, I think somebody will eventually market sit down stands for Les Pauls.

Easiest guitar for sitting down is the Flying V, as long as you pop your leg between the 'wings'.

OK, firstly: I don't like the ergonomics of LPs, but I think I can give some ideas to try:

I normally play electrics with a strap, seated, but I have 2 tricks for acoustics that also seemed to work for electrics when I just tried them:

    Guitar cushions

This thing props up the guitar, works great for classicals and acoustics, also just now for my PRS

    Non slip mats:

I used to use one on its own on my thigh
Now use one on the cushion too

[You've clearly never tried a Thunderbird sat down..]
I loved my Thunderbird for playing sitting down.

It was on a strap that it was unplayable, for me...
