    and G0 means GuitarCenter plaintop R0, and CR8,9 mean chambered R8 and R9... and R7means 57 reissue.... and... beware Gibson is watching you!
    And CR7 is Cristiano Ronaldo.
    I had one of those - was one of the best guitars of all time and looked great (in the PRS way, rather than an 50s Fender or Gibson) but it was just too rapey so had to go.

    R9 = I paid 1k+ more for a slightly more stripy top
    2017 R8 = I think I got a bargain but I didn’t

    The classic Les Paul must now surely rate as the most boring electric guitar ever next to the ubiquitous Hank Marvin style red Fender Stratocaster?

    Bursts and flame/quilt tops, yes absolutely. I still think a solid black Custom with double creams is the coolest guitar ever though

    You can add blonde teles to that list though.

    After reading countless posts about R8 & R9 Les Pauls and wondering what exactly they were, it hit me this morning that R8 = '58 Reissue and R9 = '59 Reissue.

    Am I right?
    I thought the number referred to the amount of zeros they had added to the price this year. Who knew?!
