It's a cool sound – if the video sets anyone off on a shopping trip, I'd highly recommend Joe Gore's Cult pedals (germanium OD rather than fuzz) for a similar sort of effect.

    Great tip that.

Love Pete Thorn. He seems to have been on YouTube forever.

I’m only using a Germanium Fuzz Face into a Cornell Romany Plus.... it sounds mega, either clean or full on fuzz

I'm hearing you fella. I have a Romany Plus and recently acquired a Cornell 1st Fuzz. Fantastic sounding thing and cleans up beautifully.

Germ fuzzface into tweed is definitely awesome

Sounds awesome! I love the sound of a strat (excluding positions 2/4 which are almost always repulsive) in someone else's hands but I never managed to make it work for me. Sounds like I needed a fuzz. The neck pickup tone there sounds massive clean and dirty.

Romany Plus ... and ... Cornell 1st Fuzz.

Boost channel of MESA V-Twin pedal into low gain input socket of Cornell RP.

    I see a pattern developing here. :)

So I'm the only one who prefers the tone without the pedal, then?

Haven't watched the whole video yet but Strat into fender amp with compressor makes the strat clean sound in my head.

    Doubt it.

The whole "this is the secret that's been holding you back all along" angle is click bait.

Really it's just a tip and it does sound great but plenty of great clean Strat tones have been had without going through a fuzz.

Maybe not, but you miss the point. Its an option for a different type of clean tone - he's not saying this is the only clean tone you need.

For me, the main hint in the video is Control Overdrive Saturation From Yer Guitar Volume Pot(s).

I know several guitarists in their forties who have still not grasped this concept.

Made me think of Brian May's clever use of a Germanium treble booster with the red special.

Curiously, he only demonstrates the neck pickup. Just saying.

Now does anyone have any suggestions for a good germanium fuzz that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Oh yeah, this also works really well with a Hudson Broadcast. I've been doing it since I got mine....
