The Cult - Sonic Temple 30

Anyone else booking tickets for this tour?

Always been a huge Cult fan, and Sonic Temple was one of the two albums that got me into proper rock music (the other being 'Blow Up Your Video by AC/DC). It's also got the cover that made me want to become a guitarist...

It's the 30th anniversary of the album, so they're on tour in the UK in October, playing it in full - can't wait!

Yay Birmingham. Boo crap venue, crap night. 

Very fond memories of seeing The Cult two times in the late 80s. I suspect maybe better left as happy memories.

Such a great album. It's still bonkers I think that of all bands The Cult decided to become AC/DC but it really worked and Sonic Temple is chock full of amazing songs.

Just listening to the album now - really has some cracking tunes on it. And Duffy's tone is fantastic.

I was an early fan of Southern Death Cult, and Death Cult, and drifted away after Electric. Sonic Temple was never a favourite album.

I contemplated seeing them on this tour in Vancouver recently, but it was £100/ticket, so decided against it.

That live footage is surprisingly good, Billy's still got it for sure.

What don't you like about the venue @EricTheWeary ?

I think I've only been there once (Black Crowes final tour).

O2 I think? I think I've only been there once, parked miles away, late night walking through dodgy areas. It was all standing although I think they have two or three halls so I might be wrong on that. 
It's probably fine, I probably wouldn't have batted an eyelid at one point but I'll only tend to bother now if it's a nicer venue, more accessible, better day of the week. Not very rock'n'roll and no way on God's earth would MrsTheWeary come with me so I'd be going there as Billy Nomates. 
The Cult aren't really what I listen to these days although I loved them at the time. So I suspect I'd be bored after about three songs. It's quite nice to tick off bands I've never seen but should have but I did see The Cult twice so they aren't on my bucket list.
Anyway, if anyone does go hope it's good and I'm sure I'm missing out.

I’m going to the Birmingham gig, been to the O2 academy loads and it’s a good venue. Theres a multi-storey on top of it and the great Mailbox/canal area 5 mins walk away!

Saw the Cult at the O2 Birmingham a few years ago ,Great Venue , managed to get a seat up on the balcony and had a great view.  
Have seen the multiple times over the last 30 years and they've never disapointed. Have tickets for Cardiff this time , cant wait.

Saw them at the Sage in Gateshead in late May - their only UK gig at the time. I was down the front. Very enjoyable. Billy Duffy was a bit grumpy with his tech, when first handed the white Gretsch, and swapped back to his Les Paul for the second half of the song. At the second attempt, he was happy with the Gretsch!!
