schmidt array pedal boards

What's Hot
sgosdensgosden Frets: 1994

Seeing quite a few of these popping up on the youtube/pedalshow scene, and they peaked my interest for a future build (the advertising tactic clearly working)...

Then I saw the price.. Holy bejebus.

They're clearly being marketed / aimed at touring musicians. But will undoubtedly end up on a fair few bedroom floors.

Anyone here been tempted?

I sometimes wonder if they have ever sold one and if they have just given one to every single guitarist with a youtube channel.

Beautiful but probably over engineered and expensive compared to what most people are perfectly happy using.
My Trade Feedback Thread is here

Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.

I've got one and the quality is 'ok'... the connection box though, was very noisy and I had to swop it for a Gigrig.

It exists to make bedroom/home guitarists feel better about dropping 2k on an amp and never taking it out of the house*.

"At least I don't have a thousand pound pedalboard".

*I am completely guilty of this so do not interpret this as judgement.

I don't get those cases.  Who's their market?

They're expensive.  They're made of wood so would be less than ideal for slinging in the back of the van every night of the week.  So pub band guys are out.

Maybe they're marketed at people who need to fly a lot, and for some reason also need to bring their pedalboard as carry on?

Where's the rest of their stuff, in the hold?  In which case why not get a proper flight case for the pedalboard and put it in the hold as well?

They are so expensive I'd be better off strapping pedals to the outside to protect my valuable pedalboard investment
    Red ones are better.

I’ve written them off as part of the increasingly closed loop of the YouTube guitar inner circle.

Not interested in having one at all, but I just clicked on a random model above to see exactly what everyone means by ‘expensive.’

First thing I clicked on was €279.....that’s not that bad, I think.

....until I realised that was just for the LID for the board that costs €659!

Insanely expensive. The subliminal marketing 'pon the tube is very effective though!

    I like the concept.
    The prices are daft though.

People who post pictures of their gear on instagram more often than they play live.

They're very pretty boards for people who don’t carry their own shit in and out of venues. Which is fine, but in a different segment to simple Pedaltrain type stuff

I suspect I'm entirely alone in this but I have spent quite a lot of time this morning humming Schmidt Array to the tune of Jackpot by The Beat. Possibly the closest connection I'll ever have with one.

I think they're ideal for holding Vemuran pedals in place and they take up very little room in lawyers' offices.

I don’t have one (and wouldn’t have one personally) but the amount of jealousy in this thread is pretty funny :)

I thought the jealousy thing was usually reserved for the big names like Bonamassa and Clapton.
If we don't like their music we must obviously be jealous of them. There can be no other reason.

I own plenty of gear items that cost more - wanting one isn't compulsory
    Red ones are better.
