What fuzz will do really crazy feedbacky oscillation effects during the tail of a chord?

What's Hot
Got this sound in my head that I want to try to achieve, but not quite sure how to approach it. I wanna slam a powerchord and have the initial attack and bloom of the note be pretty much effect free, and then during the tail of the sustain I want it to get really chaotic, fuzzy, feedbacky and nasty sounding.... hit the next chord... and same thing again....

But I'm not sure how to achieve. Any magical ideas? I thought maybe a Fuzz Factory could be the thing to try.

Bye!

Try a wah into an octave in parallel into a fuzz.

    So two paths?

    Path 1 - Wah > Octave
    Path 2 - Fuzz

    ?

    Or

    Path 1 - Wah > Octave > Fuzz
    Path 2 - Into Amp

    ?

  • Distortion unit with an expression pedal control  ?  or Zvex Fuzz Probe ?

  • Fuzz Factory, but you'll have to experiment a bit to get it just right

Easier to do in a modeller.
I'd use an envelope modifier on the mix balance between the two blocks, or attach them to the same expression pedal controlling the wah.

Fuzz Factory is the thing to try but be prepared to be patient. It's a bastard to control.

    Earthquaker Devices Data Corrupter?

Also check out the Collevtor/Emitter channel on YouTube, he demos all kinds of weird and wonderful fuzz pedals

  • I guess I should add that I still want to retain the high-gain chugga-chugga character of my Diezel amps.

Almost like... a octave feedbacky fuzz that has a wet/dry control that I can control with an expression pedal maybe... I dunno... just thinking aloud...

I have a Fallout Cloud I could use too. But it would need some other stuff in front and behind it.

    Bye!

Have you tried a Digitech Freqout?
    It is really fantastic.

Been wanting one for a long time actually. I might see about getting one!

Freq Out -> Octaver -> High Gain amp -> Multitap Delay is instant bliss.

lol, just snagged one off eBay. Always wanted to try one for feedback type effects so I think this is a perfect opportunity.

    Sweet.
Set it up on as a momentary to begin with.
I reckon you will love it.

Now thinking about a Ricochet and a Drop too. Those combined with the FOC or another fuzz, should be able to give me some epic tones.

Still might checkout a Fuzz Factory too.

I'd go for the Earthquaker Devices Data Corrupter before the Fuzz Factory.
Had a FF, it is too fiddly to be useable live.
If you want it for recording only then you just need to spend time with it.

  • Data Corrupter definitely a contender tbh, based on the 'Knobs' video I'm watching.

My first hand experience with the Data Corrupter is limited (I sat down with it in a shop for half an hour) but I found it very unwieldy, as in it was impossible to get it to do the same thing twice. Sometimes I’d hit a note and it would do something really cool and then I’d hit the same note again and it did something completely different. Though maybe hitting it with an already distorted signal might give different results
