NGD: My perfect Strat

What's Hot

So I wanted to build a strat with some specs that you can’t really find and building it from scratch was a bit outside of my comfort zone as I wanted it spotless.
I got the body and neck from @GSPBASSES who did an amazing job, and finished it with milk paint, wipe on poly, oiled neck, Wilkinson hardware, Fender hot noiseless pickups and PTB ( treble cut and bass cut ) wiring.

Body is ash, the neck is 3 piece maple with Santos rosewood.
It’s a wide neck with a fairly flat radius and big frets.
Sounds and plays like a dream, I’m super happy.
The PTB wiring works exceedingly well
with the fender pickups, goes from big and punchy to vintage or smooth.

It'll be fine once you sort out the trem springs.

    You don’t like naked springs?
I never put the back covers on my tremolo guitars, as I find I have to adjust them often enough for it to be a pain.

I’ve always had the irrational fear that I’d be the victim of a freak spring based accident. The back of strats just seem to hang at a worrying location. Just saying.

Love the neck joint. Zero excuse for a strat with a big block heel these days.

Diagonal gives more tension and is pretty standard.

    You sure about that?

I'd have thought it makes the middle one redundant.

I'm not sold on the stark white pickguard personally. Nice neck joint!

Yes the outside ones have more tension than the middle but the total tension is still the sum of the three. I’ve had / seen plenty of guitars come this way from the factory.
@axisus it’s vintage white, I can see what you mean on the photo, it looks less stark in real life.
Thanks for all the nice comments !

I've heard people say fanned springs look cooler than straight springs.
What sort of lunatic stares in awe at the trem cavity of their guitar?
Your audience certainly won't know unless you habitually play guitar with your teeth a la Jimi Hendrix.

I can tell the difference simply by hearing a few chords strummed on either to be fair.

Angling the spring does not give any more (useful) tension. The tremolo resists the sum of the vertical tensions in the springs. When you angle a spring you split the total tension into horizontal and vertical parts. The horizontal part is of no use and the vertical part affects the tremolo.

it makes the soundwaves vibrate diagonally as well as verically
