Perfect design (in the mind's eye)?

Is there a perfect designed guitar out there for you!?

For me (I believe) it is a 1957 Single Cut Les Paul Junior in TV Yellow (if you own the guitar below I'm so jealous!).

I say believe because I've not (yet) owned one and the reality may very well be different but in my minds eye it is the perfect guitar..

DC Special/Junior for me, much better upper fret access.

    Strat.
They are beautiful and iconic and you can pop the neck on them and put it in your suitcase.

I'd probably go junior too but I'd definitely tweak the sc junior design because the lip isn't great so a normal long tenon would sort that and a belly contour and more sculpting around the heel etc to bring it up to modern expectations

Dc junior is superb and only needs the strap button on the horn imo

I know it isn't practical but aesthetically I love it with the lip.

There is no such thing as a perfect guitar design, or discussions like this would never occur (or need to)
I'll settle for a bit of banter & aspiration  ;)

You asked for a perfect design which it isn't and i love those vintage guitars but they could do with tweaking, i will when i build one next time

Not one is ideal. Their imperfections make life interesting.

If I could manage that I wouldn't have loads of guitars that are all different, but that I can't bear to part with  :#

Depends how we’re defining “perfect”, but in terms of finding a guitar that feels most like “home” to me, then the Eastman E10-SS/V comes pretty close for me, I wasn’t a fan of the colour in photos but after seeing one in person I actually really liked it. Once I’d picked it up, it just has a beautiful neck & feel, and the to e is to die for.

As far as electrics go then I’m a big fan of PRS’ doublecut design, with the McCarty 594 being my new favourite bridge and control layout to use on it as the whole thing just feels and sounds “right”, and practically plays itself.

  • Hard to choose my perfect design, although I have my perfect version of each design. I agree that a TV Yellow DC Special is a thing of beauty. I prefer the DC over the Junior, I just don't seem attracted to single pick up Guitars.

I do adore this creation by Juha Ruokangas, The Ruokangas Duke Supersonic, very costly though.
