The key in my view is that they are all playing in a structure. I’d suggest working through a 12 bar and then replacing each chord section with a little break and coming back in on time. Once you can do this you can riff away and sound musical.

My other go to is heavens door. You can play power chords, arpeggio, strip down to just the bass notes, get funky, go a little reggae. But as I said before it’s all in a structure so when you go somewhere there is somewhere to come back to.
