True.  It's the "its just a piece of wood" thing that got me thinking.  I really like it though.

I don't understand how second hand cars in the UK are so ridiculously cheap. In Portugal that car would cost over €5.000.

Companies gets fleets of them on lease so after 3 years the lease is up it floods the market.  Add to the reduced popularity of Diesel, it becomes a basic supply and demand equation.

For example, my car, I paid £10,500 over 3 and a half years ago, because it is a petrol and relately rare, it still commands around £8,000 on the used market private, more from a dealer.

It suggests you're not very good at selling OR buying.

At that price, did your Audi also need a pick-up?

I was running up and down the main street with tinfoil on my head shouting "bananas!" repeatedly yesterday.

The world really is crazy indeed.

What's so special about the Tele body? Can't see why anyone would pay £400 for it from the photo.

I wish I'd known that, I'd have driven down to Portugal no problem - great road trip that would have been.  I could have dragged the Tele body behind the car too to increase it's value.

It's a Custom Shop body and been given some serious relic'ing by a luthier, who's also done a really nice body contour on the back.  It's feather light.  I like it but I can understand its not everyone's cup of tea.

  • The Audi would be worth more in bits than the Tele body!

I did see that. But with no corresponding serial numbered neck plate to go with the serial numbered C.O.A, it's essentially a home relic'd custom classic body and a random C.O.A. You might be able to source the matching neck plate for another £400. =)
