This flea bay acquisition arrived today and surpasses my expectations although still in the honeymoon period!

Its a 1998 McCarty model but condition suggests it’s spent much of its life as a case queen. Very little fret wear and tarnishing on the bridge is one of the few signs of its 21years.

Wide/fat neck which is a bit slimmer than my R8. Presumably the original P90s which I’m relieved won’t need changed.

One piece mahogany body and well conditioned dark rosewood board. 8lbs 5oz.

Spot on setup. Easily hangs with my R8, CS strat and Jem. One of those guitars I don’t “need” but cool to own. Can’t imagine this wouldn’t be superior to one of the new Gibson 50s P90 Les Pauls.

As you'll see from my avatar, I like this sort of thing    Enjoy.  FWIW, the Gotoh locking replacement tuners are a nice upgrade and a straight swap.  I deliberately re-used the same strings and the tone and tuning stability both improved.

  • I usually find PRS guitars to be quite offensive to the eyes. That on the other hand is lovely,
no hideous flame top or birds definitely helps.
    Enjoy.

It’s a remarkable guitar that plays as well as my custom shop fender and Gibson and looks about 20years younger than it is.

However after playing it all day buyers remorse has struck as it doesn’t add as much tonally to my arsenal as I thought it might. My trusty strat looks neglected already. Will probably be selling it on here soon for what I paid.

Just remember, double denim and peroxide mullets were once in fashion... I wouldn’t follow that fashion advice now but I would love one of those!

Ridiculous turnaround I know but thems the breaks. Totally honest sale. Simply not required given what I already own.

I promise it plays as good as it looks!

Not really @JookyChap used to buy things and list them for sale before they'd arrived because some other sparkly shiny thing had caught his interest.

Me too the forum has been a sadder duller place without his crazy acid dipped, rust and sparkle encrusted works of genius/madness.

I used to love seeing the builds posted by Jooky and @WezV ;They'd both make me say wow but for totally different reasons.
