That's pretty cool, but why does it have two strap buttons on the bottom?
Some guys and manufacturers - use two as improvised guitar stand

That's actually pretty cool. I'd no idea.

Bolt on neck, 24 frets, Floyd and sustainer pickup :-)

Preferably with 24 frets and some pickup switching combination so you can coil-tap the humbuckers or get some in-betweeny sounds somehow. Gone off locking trems quite a bit as found I much prefer the slightly looser feel without (still has to have a trem though!).

For me the common thread is buckers and Floyds. I prefer 24 frets these days, but 22 is fine too. Usually bolt on as well, but always been interested in trying a thru neck in terms of upper fret access.

22 fret, HH, hardtail, bolt on neck for me. I really hate floyds, don’t see the point and I’m heavy handed so tend to pull/pick things out of tune and make them do weird chirpy noises.

not fussed about the neck joint
    prefer 24 big frets
    Floyd
pups moderately hot [PAF Pro to Breed sort of hot], passive
prefer fingerboards that are flatter [16" is nice]

play every note as if it were your first

I always thought a Superstrat was defined by Locking trem, bolt on neck and 24 frets. Always used to be.............. but I'm old  =)

  • If it’s a hardtail, is it a super strat still?

I thought the first Superstrats where not exactly off-the-shelf
essentially Strats [not always Fender] with H / HSS / HH pup configs and a Floyd
so they would have been 21 fret [or like my '78 Fender modified to a 22 fret]
like EVH's early ones for example

play every note as if it were your first

Interesting what people see the definition of superstrat is.

I've always thought it meant a Strat style guitar with at least a humbucker in the bridge and almost always a Floyd type bridge.

24 frets would be very common but not necessary.

I've never thought that whether the neck was set or bolt-on made any difference.

It’s massively annoying. Neither of them is in the right place, and you can’t fix it without leaving ugly holes in the guitar.

    Good points :+1:
Trying to categorise that which was never defined, is a bit of a bugger.
Hence the eternally continuing conversations  ;)

It’s difficult to define exactly, but would say it’s something like a basically Strat-shaped guitar with at least two of...

    One or two humbuckers
    Locking trem
Wide flat fingerboard (12” radius or larger) with jumbo frets
    Pointy headstock
    Fancy body top, eg maple
    Slimmer or more square-edged body
    No pickguard

... but I may be over-analysing it as usual :).

    Definitely all common features.

For me, apart from the first one, they could all be absent and the guitar still be a superstrat. Yet if a guitar had every other one of those features but had no humbuckers I just wouldn't think it counted. I'd just see it as a strat clone with more "modern" features.

Just a humbucker alone isn’t it, though - a Fender US Standard HSS isn’t a Superstrat, it’s just a Strat with a humbucker.

  • It’s not a super strat without a locking trem system, even locking tuners are not enough in my mind.

Has to be a Floyd or Edge type double locking system.

Frets numbers and neck connection method doesn’t really matter.

    And humbuckers are an essential.
