For what it's worth, I've found his military history (it seemed odd). He was in the Air Force as a programmer for three years while he was at college and university (presumably for the scholarship), then seemingly spent three years in the Florida Army National Guard.

That's from his bio on IMDb (yes, really).

  • Also hoping it’s not health-related but, judging by his past sales, I imagine it isn’t. He can’t be short of a bob or two, surely?

Huge fan here, in many respects, my favourite guitarist. So, will I pop down to Essex Studio? Am I buggery. They will likely be back up for sale before long anyway. The guy doesn't come across well on Reverb, this video, etc. and I’ve also received his silly offers on EBay. In all fairness, I don’t blame him for that, it’s down to the seller to say yes or no.

So, as I alluded to earlier, is his caveat about taxes etc, actually legal. Should he be paying taxes in the uk?

Caveats don't mean shit if the HMRC doesn't agree with them.

HMRC are not known for having a sense of humour.

  • He's after 1600 quid for a Peavey 6505, because it belonged to the guy from Bullet For My Valentine. Must have been the other one that said guy from BFMV was flogging on Reverb, as I had one for £300 back in January. The cheek of it

IMHO his 'caveat' audience isn't HMRC, it is purely to prevent customers (or should we call them 'marks'?) from trying to return anything if they are unhappy.

If you’re buying items with the express intention of selling, HMRC are definitely going to take an interest - it doesn’t matter if you’re ‘a private individual’ or a company.  And you certainly can’t just use a not-in-the-UK website for selling things and say “Website’s elsewhere, local laws don’t apply to me”.

  • Does anyone know somebody who has recorded in his studio?

Whatever about wheeling and dealing on Reverb, a studio with about a million quids worth of gear would usually need clients.

Well there was that famous incident where he recorded someone who nearly got a record played on Radio Essex once.

Just in case it's of interest, this guy is on the Guitarsoles podcast this week.

And he's listed them up already... at £20k-50k each. EACH.

Honestly you can't make this up: https://reverb.com/shop/essex-recording-studios

If anyone is willing to pay anything near that for a Dean that Mr Mustaine potentially played once or twice... then god help us all.

Wow a lot of hate for this guy. What did he do? Did he vote Tory?

Isn't everyone's pricing on Reverb way over its value?

He buys guitars very cheaply with known issues on the basis of those issues, then lists them for 4x or 5x the price without stating the issues (neck repairs, deep dings, etc).

Has also been known to sell guitars with fake certificates of authenticity, claiming DIY relic jobs are "prototype" guitars, and invent provenance to jack the price.

£50k for the prototype. Absolutely insane.

Still can't believe he has the Jackson 'batman' cab up for sale at £999. £900 profit, brilliant.

Didn't he also report the fretboard to the FBI?

If he has retained his US citizenship he also has to file his taxes with the IRS. I imagine he has conflated this with his T&Cs via some impressive mental gymnastics.
