Hi,
I've been playing for over 20 years now, and in that time have probably spent more than a decent guitar on getting my various guitars set up by professionals. I've recently taken over two project guitars, and I'm using them as the catalyst to finally learn how to do this myself.
In order to do this properly I'd like to have the correct tools for the job. So, what do I need to purchase in order to do the basic stuff, up to and including fret dressing but not so far as doing a full refret. I already own a soldering iron, imperial and metric hex-wrenches and various screwdrivers, but nothing more specific than that.
Also, can anyone recommend a good course I could go on for someone to show me how to do this properly?
Many thanks,
Richard

Beyond that - and what you’ve got already - I’m not sure that you *need* any other specialist tools, although you could spend plenty on some!
StewMac (IIRC) do some setup DVDs which would be a whole lot cheaper than a course, and endlessly repeatable.
