Also slightly unusual in that a Gibson inlay making a bid for freedom isn't totally unheard of, but this LP had four completely out and two partially out. They were warped/cupped in all directions, so needed reshaping before seating them back and blending into the board.

The first of three for somebody, similar but different to each other here.

This one's alder, 2-pc mahogany neck with ebony board, carbon fibre rods which I slimmed down somewhat.
In primer in pic 2 it weighs under 6 and a half pounds. A dry build had it playing cleanly at 1.3mm action with no fretwork done.

Last quick bits before Xmas -

Not sure it shows in pics really but I have a trick/thing to make black deeper than your normal factory black. All landed with it's new owner who is very chuffed. I'm one of those that doesn't take praise well but makes me happy when folk are happy

    Xmas recipe for you:

Take two baking trays and boil a kettle. Set the oven to 60 deg (fan).
Add a teaspoon of turmeric to one pan, and some kettle water. Stir well. Add about another third of cool water.
Carefully place your white pickguard, lightly de-glossed, in the tray. Cook for 3-5 mins.
Remove pg, wash off (if you made it too hot and the pg is bendy, flatten it on a chopping board or whatever, it'll cool flat easily).

Check in different lights, flouro lights vs daylight will be very different. If pg is too bright then cook in the second tray in hot water alone, keep checking for colour.
When happy, pour hot (not boiling) water over bits of it - makes the colour less even/less like a 'bought' green pg.
Add more ageing & detail if you want, didn't bother here, this is just my workhorse non-glamorous Strat

Pic doesn't show the variation and slightly used/worn/patchy details to it, but hey-

As seen in the Guitar section, the Kodama: tree spirits in shinto/Japanese. 3,000 year old flame redwood over maple and black limba. Flame maple neck, fretboard is macassar ebony. The back covers are topped with macassar ebony. 12th fret inlay CNC'd, the kanji reads kodama.
Ebony pickup covers, Babicz trem, NOS bakelite knobs. 501 Gotoh tuners, 6000 frets.

Just a quick shout out to our Bill (Corvus).  He's just finished re-fretting my EJ Strat, which is the second guitar he's re-fretted for me, and it's yet another fantastic job.  And a quick turn around.  I can thoroughly recommend Bill as his work for me has always been of the highest standard, completed quickly and at reasonable cost.  If you took any pics Bill, you can use them here.
    No Darling....I've had that ages.
