Did some benchmarks against my previous machines.
Single core is slower than the i7 Mac mini it replaces (this was expected- Xeon will always be slower than an i7 at single core.)

The multi-core score it ridiculously fast though- more than double my previous machine.

To give some perspective- the bottom one 'Drum Room Mac Pro' was my previous Mac Pro- the one I did loads of records on and the single core score is just over half the new one. Multi-core is about 15% of the capability of the new one.
The new machine is crazy fast but if you were looking for the best bang for the buck then the 2018 Mac mini is still an absolute monster. 50% of the multi-core score  for about 1/4 the cost- if you can live with the lack of discrete graphics and don't mind going with an expansion chassis for any PCIe cards.
    I found it a PITA.
