SRV used to do this finger tips with superglue and touch his right forearm, wait a few secs, and rip off skin.... a skin glue skin sandwich..... tone for days.

You can get silicone finger tip thimble protectors. I hear metal, ceramic, and tortoise shell ones are also available.
