Wow, didn’t see this coming. Didn’t even know he was sick. Completely shocked to learn of his passing. 

Even the greats aren’t immortal after all.

Just heard about this now from my mate who's a big fan.

IMO one on the best drummers... saw them in Manchester when they first came to the UK absolutly amazing gig.

Sad news indeed.  I had heard he was having some kind of health issues but had no details.  I grew up listening to Rush, saw them twice, most notably the 2112 tour, epic.

Devastating news and a real hero.

Both a brilliant and inspiring drummer and lyricist who has seen too much tragedy in his family and now this.

Amazing drummer, even better lyricist. Didn't get into them until the documentary came out. Going to have a re-read of his Ghost Rider after this. RIP Neil.

Terrible news, been a fan for over half me life.. Had heard he had health issues but I assumed that was to do with the arthritis and tendonitis that lead to him to retire from drumming. Hoped he would pop up again with a novel or writing with others musicians. 
Sad loss.

His lyrics were a big part of my lifeline to sanity as a youth in the eighties. It's crazy to think I've been listening to them for about 35 years.

Had the immense privilege to stand stage side and watch this guy doing his thing. Mostly, we were getting his side fills while watching him play, a lot of the rest of sound was going out front. It was an amazing experience in itself. He was technically and dynamically brilliant. This one seems to hurt more than some others, don't know why, maybe it's sad seeing true virtuosity leave us. RIP Neil.
