The original models from the late 80's were cool - Limited run - choice of colours - Believed to be £950ish - maybe only a run of 300

And another question...why on earth have Fender reissued the Lead III?

IIRC, it was a bit of a desperate marketing attempt at the back end of the "old" company in the late '70's/early '80's..

IMHO, the old Hondo H-1051/H-1052 copies were just as good as the Fender effort, and a fraction of the price...a friend of mine had one as his main gigging guitar for years.
believe it will be around £470 ish

@guitargeek62 it has a decal that you can apply if you want.

Should come with a marker pen so you can write whatever you like on it.
Should come with a dressed away heel like the Mexican Deluxe & erstwhile American Deluxe ranges if the latter is supposedly what it was based on.  A modern, hot rodded guitar built for speed in every way other than the 1948 brick heel design.

Ah, the Tom Morello Strat has emerged!

It is nice but £1,259.00 is quite pricey for a Mexican made Strat

Yes, no reason why it should be any dearer than the similarly spec'd Dave Murray model, which trumps it with the use of a Floyd Rose Original bridge.

Agreed. I'm very keen on the burst Lead III. I don't have a Fender guitar with humbuckers. I had a Hondo H-1052 until very recently, and while it was a good guitar (except the tuners) the nut width was way too narrow.

I like the look of the purple one but would much prefer a maple neck.

Nostalgia, pretty much the same reason I play this ugly piece of crap :)

Quite a few new NAMM introduced models now listed on the fender website <https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/winter-namm-2020/>.

I'm quite resistant to GAS (I find if I don't act on it for a month or so, the desire to own a particular guitar fades away) but the new Shell Pink AO 60s Strat might be the Strat I'm looking for. I think the Daphne Blue 60s Jag might also be a new colour variant and looks rather nice if you are in the market for an offset.

Shell Pink Strat and the Fiesta Red Rosewood Neck Strat are the sex. GASing at the minute (though I really want a new Jazzmaster).

Fender have also announced a US factory built 70th Anniversary Broadcaster as an alternative to the CS model that is already available. Looks like a tasty alternative to the AO 50s Tele for a reasonable premium. The spec lists CS hand wound pickups and it apparently comes with an alternative blender wiring kit in the case.

Couldn't agree more. You'd be better buying the aerodyne in the classified and a sharpie. Disappointing price.

Also, very surprised this exists, surely teaming up with a huge global company to make a guitar that cashes in on your name and charges way more than the actual value of the guitar simply because its a signature is one of the most capitalist things you can do? I get the selling records to get your message across thing but this seems a step too far... getting in bed with the machine is a far cry from raging against it. Im sure the demand is there though so fan service and all that... just seems a bit too pricey for what and who it is.

Check out my band Coral Snake if you like original hard rock!

To be fair it’s got a floyd, compound radius, additional wiring and switching options and upgraded pickups.

Id expect it to sit around £1100 when in shops which seems decent value.

I wonder what's happened to the Ben Gibbard signature Mustang, there's been photos of that knocking around since August.
