  • Not boutique by any stretch, so happy to be shot down, but the TC Spark (full size) is an extraordinarily good pedal. In a live context it can mimic any boost or low gainer out there...
    IMO!!!!

is there anything that has it's own little signature sound going on in much the same way a BJFE HB has?

Prince of Tone and or Tumnus Deluxe for me. The TD is becoming my favourite drive of all time so far.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

Fairfield Barbershop has it's own sort of thing going on, though I cant really remember what it is because my brother nicked off with it.

  • ThorpyFX Heavy Water.

Sure, it's a (mostly) clean boost, but that's like the ultimate in low-gain. Like, none. And there's two of them in one box.

    Therefore it's the best.

Yup I'd say a gritty boost. A Bad Bob for me.

Walrus Audio 385 overdrive, sounds pretty good to me and I quite fancy one.

EQD Speaker Cranker does nicelow gain sounds, and is quite ‘transparent’ (I know I know, it’s not really but let me explain) through my champ-a-like at low volumes it really does actually sound like that amp but cranked into overdrive, but without pissing off the wife. It’s more of a dirty boost than an overdrive. Kind of. Well maybe not, but it is in my opinion quite underrated.
