Looking at his other items, which are mostly left over Tanglewood stock, he is clearly a very discerning, honest, tax paying trader. 

I trust him completely.

Firstly, I have no relationship or affiliation with the seller.
However, I do know that he is based in Sunderland, has a legitimate music business (including selling Tanglewood guitars) & has a long standing eBay account where he occasionally advertises very high value desirable stuff.
 Including over the years, a couple of genuine vintage Manx Norton racing motorbikes & the '59 Les Paul that this thread has got all excited over.
Even if the guitar is genuine (no idea, but I think it could well be) I personally don't know why anyone would ever be considering selling the pickups separately, but really it's no-one's business but his own.

I just don't see why it has attracted so much vitriol here?

Because those same pickups seem to be in the Les Paul in the pic for a £20 gig bag.

Because you would lose more on the value of a 59 Burst by swapping out the original PAFs than you could recoup by selling them separately.

No, the guitar isn't genuine. In the photos the headstock looks like a Chibson (the peak of the open book sits too high).

I think his listing is getting stick because £20k is about twice the price of even legit mint and covered double-white '59 PAFs, and let's be honest if it were true this guy owned a real '59 burst he'd be knocking way more then £20k off its value by flogging its original pickups out of it.

Put simply, you have to show some serious bona-fides when dealing in this stuff these days. This listing isn't credible.

It's like cutting out the enigmatic smile of the Mona Lisa and selling it and the rest of the painting separately.  No one in their right mind  would do it.  The guy is either completely round the bend or completely dishonest.

Bollocks is spouted routinely about guitars, even here, shock horror   
The guitar is shown in a separate unrelated ad. for a cheap gigbag, yes, but did you ever try using what you have to hand 'for illustrative purposes' ?

If you have any questions about the prices, pickups, provenance etc. why not just simply ask the seller instead of banging on here? As I said "I personally don't know why anyone would ever be considering selling the pickups separately, but really it's no-one's business but his own."

FWIW The pups do appear to be legit, although could be anything from late '57 to late '59, and they're uncovered, in pretty shabby condition, with shaky provenance (until he gets his burst out and explains why he's partsing it), so £20k is an insanely high price.
